Details on the Temple of Luxor -

The Temple itself was dedicated to the gods, Amon-Re, his consort, Mut and their son, Khons. It was built by Amenhotep III during his rule as Pharaoh.

Tut completed the Colonnade during his reign, Horemheb added the 2 miles of Sphinxes from the Luxor to the Temple Karnak. Ramesses II added on to the Temple of Luxor during his reign. His contribution was the Court of Ramesses and the Pylons of Ramesses, which have the obilesks and the statues of him outside the wall.

Each addition was sat in front of the old temple, making it go backwards. The Sphinxes originally had the head of the Ram, which was Amon’s symbol, but was later changed to a human head in the 30th Dynasty.

The Temple sits along the Nile from North to South, most of it is destroyed isn’t there anymore, has fallen, but a very good portion remains. The Temple is located in Thebes, Egypt
